Écoressources Carbone is proud to announce the first carbon credit transaction that meets the requirements of the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) in the province of Quebec. The seller of the carbon credits is GRANULES LG, a company based in Saint-Félicien specialized in the production and marketing of energetic wood pellets. GRANULES LG's project is only the third in Canada to be validated by the VCS for greenhouse gases (GHG) reduction. This choice distinguishes GRANULES LG from its competitors and reduces its GHG emissions by more than 5000 tonnes a year.

The credits were sold to Offsetters, a Canadian carbon management solutions provider. The Aeroplan Group is one of Offsetters' clients and will use GRANULES LG's GHG reductions to offset part of its carbon footprint. The VCS is one of the most renowned standards in the voluntary carbon market in North America and guarantees the quality of the GHG reductions.

ÉcoRessources supported GRANULES LG in the process leading to the VCS certification and in the negotiation of carbon credit terms of transaction. ÉcoRessources Carbone is also involved in many other GHG reduction projects in North America and Latin America. The company plans to announce shortly the closing of other major deals.
