ÉcoRessources announces the validation of a CDM project in Peru
ÉcoRessources Carbone is proud to announce the validation of a new CDM project in Peru. ÉcoRessources has assisted “Empresa Administradora Chungar”, part of the Volcan mining group, in the validation process of their Baños V hydroelectric plant according to CDM requirements.
The project consists in constructing a new run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant in the Cerro de Pasco region in the center of Peru. The main objective of the project is to generate renewable electricity by utilizing the water from the Baños River. Electricity will be delivered to the mining division Animon, connected to the National Interconnected Electric Grid, to replace the more polluting energy production in the current network. The new hydroelectric plant will have an installed capacity of 9.1 MW and an annual electrical generation potential of 58 GWh. The project is expected to reduce 36 970 t CO2e per year.
ÉcoRessources developed the CDM component of the hydro project, including the project design document, and lead the validation process. Our team was able to demonstrate that the project meets all CDM requirements.
