Baños V Hydroelectric Plant
ÉcoRessources was hired to develop the CDM component of the Baños V Hydroelectric Plant, a new run-of-river hydropower facility in the center of Peru. The objective of the project is to generate renewable electricity by using water from the Baños river. This renewable energy will be supplied to the Animón's mining unit, which is connected to the National Interconnected Electric Grid (SEIN), with the result of displacing power generated by more polluting sources in the actual grid. The project will have an installed capacity of 9.1 megawatts (MW), with an electricity generation potential of 59 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year. The project is expected to displace 35 969 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) per year.
