Substitution of Natural Gas by Waste Heat at Sudamericana de Fibras S.A.
The objectives of the project “Substitution of Natural Gas by Waste Heat” - developed by Sudamericana de Fibras S.A. (SdF) - is to recover waste heat generated by a thermal power plant operated by SdF Energía S.A.C. and to generate electric power and heat for SdF’s dry-spun acrylic fibre plant. The project is located in the Callao Province in Peru. The recovered waste heat is diverted to an HRSG and the steam generated by this process feeds both a steam turbine to generate electric power and the dry-spun acrylic fibre plant directly with heat. This whole process has a power generation potential of 3.07 MW with an estimated power generation of 24 647 MWh per year and a net quantity of heat supplied to the SdF dry-spun acrylic fibre plant estimated at 707.37 TJ/year. The project has an estimated annual emission reduction potential of 53 859 tCO2e.
