Jean Nolet founded ÉcoRessources in January 2004 and plays an active role in the management of the mandates undertaken by the company’s team of analysts and senior associates. He has more than 10 years of professional and research experience on carbon markets and climate change issues and projects, making him one of the most experienced experts in the field in Canada. His key areas of expertise include project management, cap and trade mechanisms and allocation, offset origination and climate change economics.

As President of ÉcoRessources, Mr. Nolet concentrates on strategies and developments that position ÉcoRessources on the developing carbon market in North America and South America. Over the years, he has worked on numerous occasions with offset project developers, providing advice on carbon market opportunities. He also offers support to corporate clients in the negotiation of carbon credit transactions and the understanding of regulatory risks. He has given numerous talks and training workshops on emissions trading.

Prior to founding ÉcoRessources, Mr. Nolet worked for the Government of Quebec in the energy sector of the Ministry of Natural Resources as well as in the Climate Change Bureau of the Ministry of Environment. In both of these positions, he was one of the leading economists representing the Government of Quebec for the federal/provincial and Territorial groups working on the implementation of an emission trading system in Canada. It is in this capacity that he developed a thorough understanding of the issues related to, and the characteristics of emission trading schemes and their implications for Canadian industries.
