Philippe Crête has five years of experience in carbon markets and climate change policy and has been acting as project manager for ÉcoRessources since 2007. Since joining the team, Mr. Crête has spearheaded the company’s origination and development activities in the North American voluntary carbon market. He has also provided technical GHG expertise for several industrial sectors, including PDD drafting, GHG quantification, feasibility analysis and GHG inventories. His acute knowledge of the financial and political issues governing carbon markets has also led him to contribute to several market analyses and to take part actively in carbon credits brokerage for various clients of the company.

He specializes in the origination and development of CDM and VER projects in the forestry, waste management and renewable energy sectors, in GHG inventories and management strategies, policy advisory on AFOLU issues (i.e. REDD, Afforestation/Reforestation, SFM) and in carbon finance.

Prior to joining ÉcoRessources, Philippe Crête worked in Panama as a CO2 program officer for Futuro Forestal, where he coordinated the drafting of two Carbon Finance Documents for inclusion in the World Bank’s BioCarbon Fund. Additionally, he did environmental and socio-economic consulting work for various international institutions, including the United Nations Environmental Program, the Forest Stewardship Council and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.

Philippe Crête completed an M.Sc. in Bioresource Engineering with a specialization in Tropical Environments at McGill University in collaboration with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and he holds a B.A in International Development Studies and Economics from McGill University. He speaks French, English and Spanish fluently.
