Gabriella Torres Alva
Gabriella Torres is a Project Development Analyst at ÉcoRessources. She joined the team in 2010 and focuses on the development of offset projects and financial analysis. She previously worked as a financial analyst and portfolio manager at a mutual funds company in Peru, where she was part of the investment team that invested in the country’s capital markets, and negotiated and traded with both local and foreign actors. She has also worked in multinational companies from different economic sectors, not only in financial and trading roles but also within the training and development units.
Ms. Torres has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad de Lima and a Master’s degree in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE), where her studies were concentrated in the field of environmental economics, mainly cost-benefit analysis, contingent valuation, sustainability, trade, globalization and global governance. Her research focused on a contingent valuation study carried out in the central jungle of Peru to calculate the value of a conservation area forest through a simulated payment for environmental services scheme.
Ms. Torres also taught economics and accounting to university-level students at a private institution. She is currently a member of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (EAERE) and has been invited to speak about environmental topics at international conferences. She speaks Spanish and English fluently, and has a basic level of French.
