Gianluca Merlo became a member of the ÉcoRessources Carbone team in 2011. His eighteen years of diverse experience as a mechanical engineer allows him to apply his knowledge to meet a large number of practical goals in the environmental sector, with a strong technical vision.  Mr. Merlo\'s solid experience as project leader, multilateral executive, senior manager, team leader, scientist, and on-site organizer gives him the ability to assume challenging environmental management roles, which is particularly important for his actual role of identifying and developing carbon reduction projects. During the last six years, he has developed expertise in the field of climate change, including activities such as the identification, analysis, development, implementation and monitoring of carbon emissions reduction projects throughout Latin America, first with the Corporacion Andina de Fomento (CAF), then with South Pole Carbon Asset Management (selected Best Carbon Developer in 2011), and now with ÉcoRessources Carbone.

As an engineer, Mr. Merlo gained experience in project calculus, coordination, planning and logistics in the oil and gas sectors as well as managerial and administrative experience in civil construction and the water treatment sector. The synergy of his vast experience allows him to apply his knowledge to develop effective and efficient solutions for environmental impact studies or for carbon financing and CDM project structuring.

Mr. Merlo\'s diverse experience includes a scientific approach, combined with a multilateral corporate view and an in-depth understanding of environmental issues. His most recent work has focused on international carbon financing for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard (GS) procedures involved in establishing several projects under these standards throughout Latin America. He is also a regular speaker at conferences related to climate change held in Latin America and Europe.
