Luis Salgado has been involved in carbon markets and climate change policy for more than ten years. He became a member of the ÉcoRessources’ team in 2007 and has been working as project manager for the Latin American region since 2007. Since joining the team, Mr. Salgado has been involved in the development of the company’s CDM and voluntary carbon market activities; originating and developing projects in Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Panama, and Peru; and providing technical and financial expertise in several industrial sectors as well as in forestry and mining.

He specializes in the origination and development of CDM and VER projects, mainly in the renewable energy, energy efficiency and forestry sectors. His work in the Latin American region also includes market development and project portfolio management.  At the global level, Mr. Salgado develops policy analysis and advisory activities on forestry issues, including REDD and A/R CDM as well as development of GHG emissions management strategies and analysis of GHG inventories for national governments and private companies.

Prior to joining ÉcoRessources, Luis Salgado worked as Project Coordinator for the Helios Center, a respected think-tank on sustainable energy and climate change where he provided expert support in developing offset project sfor the CDM and voluntary markets in Latin America, including the first Peruvian forestry project to be registered under the CDM.

As a negotiator for Peru within the UNFCCC process between 2002 and 2005, he built his expertise in developing CDM projects with the Peruvian National Environmental Fund (FONAM). He was also a technical consultant for the Peruvian Designated National Authority on forestry issues under the UNFCCC.  As chairman of the Peruvian Forest and Carbon Group, his work focused on the promotion of the development of Afforestation/Reforestation CDM projects and the development of proposals for the Peruvian positions on forestry issues for the UNFCCC negotiation process.

Luis Salgado has a degree in Forestry Engineering as well as a B.S in Forest Sciences, both from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Peru. He speaks French, English and Spanish fluently.
