Skander Ben-Abdallah became a member of the team at ÉcoRessources in 2009 as Project Manager in the Climate Change section.  His areas of expertise include sustainable development, energy management, and environment protection. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Ben-Abdallah occupied various academic and professional positions related to environmental and natural resources management. He specialized in energy efficiency, renewable energy, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, GHG inventory, assessment of GHG mitigation options and economic cost-benefit analysis.

He held the position of deputy-president of Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 1997 to 2002. He is currently a member of the UNFCCC Roster of Experts, responsible for the review of GHG inventories of. In addition, Mr. Ben-Abdallah completed several studies related to the CDM system, including project design documents in developing countries for the Canadian Climate Change Office.

He specialized in energy efficiency and renewable energy promotion (regulatory and institutional framework; fiscal and financial mechanisms), GHG inventory according to the revised IPCC methodologies, mitigation options assessment, Project Design Documents and feasibility studies in the energy and waste sectors, climate change adaptation related to human utilities and infrastructure, cost-benefit analysis and decision-making process.

Notably, Mr. Ben-Abdallah has produced several CDM project design documents in developing countries for the Canadian Climate Change Bureau, co-authorized a CDM guidance document for the IEPF, as well as participated in strategic wind energy development studies for the African Development Bank and UNDP. He has also published scientific articles related to natural resources management and the environment.

Skander holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Energy and Environment) from Tunis National Engineering School (ENIT) and a Ph.D. in Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He speaks Arabic, English and French fluently.
