Frédéric Gagnon-Lebrun, Climate change director

Frédéric Gagnon-Lebrun has more than nine years of hands-on experience working on carbon markets, climate change issues and related projects. As the Montreal-based Director – Climate Change, he focuses on developing the firm’s carbon market business and its climate change consulting activities.

Over the years, he has provided services to project developers, including feasibility assessments, project documentation and advice on carbon market opportunities. Frédéric also offers his expertise to corporate clients, assisting in negotiations regarding carbon credit transactions and the understanding of regulatory risks. He has given numerous lectures and training workshops on emissions trading, offset project development and the CDM process. Other areas of his expertise include capacity building for climate change negotiators and the analyses of climate change adaptation strategies.

Prior to joining ÉcoRessources, Frédéric worked as a consultant on climate change policy and climate-related investments at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In this role, he analyzed climate and energy policies implemented by OECD countries. He also reviewed documentation on proposed CDM projects while analyzing the composition of the global CDM portfolio. He has also worked as a Climate Change Policy Analyst at the Quebec Ministry of Environment where he studied the implications of the Canadian Emissions Trading Scheme on industry in Quebec.

Frédéric Gagnon-Lebrun has also worked as a climate change policy analyst at the Quebec Ministry of Environment and as an assistant researcher at the Institute for Environmental Studies in Amsterdam. Finally, he speaks and writes French, English, and Spanish.

Frédéric Gagnon-Lebrun holds a BSc in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from McGill University and a MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE). He is also an Associate to the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
